International Symphony Orchestra Accompanies Children Of The World Choir

Children of the World Choir Indonesia proudly announces that it has been able to commit nearly 100 young musicians from all over the world to the ‘Children Raise their Voices Program’ on October 10, 2002 in the Jakarta Convention Center.
Seventy five students from the Jakarta International School Symphony Orchestra and 20 young professionals from Ensemble Galilea are joining forces on the occasion of Children Raise Their Voices. They will accompany Children of the World Choir Indonesia in the four gala songs at the end of the program.
The JIS Symphony Orchestra is made up of students aged 12 - 20 and is comprised of the high school`s two performing string orchestras, String Sinfonia and Concert Strings, as well as members of the JIS H.S. Wind Ensemble, TRI-M Music Honor Society, and advanced string players from the JIS Middle School division.
The String Sinfonia has performed as guest artists in Bangkok, Manila, and Shanghai, and next year with Concert Strings are planning a performance tour to Vienna and Salzburg, Austria.
Director of the JIS Symphony Orchestra is Ms. Sharon Eng, an American strings specialist who began violin studies at the age of eight in the U.S. public schools system. She later graduated as a four-year scholarship student from the Juilliard School in New York City with bachelor and master degrees in string performance. She has been teaching strings in public and private schools and as a private studio teacher for over 30 years, seven of these with JIS. Ms. Eng`s solo and chamber music performances have taken her to eleven countries on four continents.
